A number of dead calves have been dumped at the side of a road outside Newtownhamilton.
And it is the second such incident in the area in recent days, which has shocked and appalled locals.
Newry and Armagh DUP MLA William Irwin today (Wednesday), visited the scene in the area of Barkers Lane and Barkers Road.
And he has reported it to Newry, Mourne and Down District Council’s environmental health officials.
Mr Irwin said he was “shocked” by the behaviour.
And he added: “All farmers know that there is a method for dealing wth fallen livestock and this is not the way.
“Apart from the distress caused to those living in the area, there is the obvious environmental and human health issues that are associated with rotting carcases.
“This is the second incident of this nature reported to me in the last few days in this area and I would urge anyone with information to give it to the police or environmental health immediately.
“This is not acceptable practice in any rural community and the local people around Newtown should not have to tolerate it.”
