A teenager is facing a number of charges relating to the alleged sexual assault and incitement of a child, which date back around seven years
James Devine (19) from St Malachys Park, Camlough is accused of two counts each of sexually assaulting a child aged under 13 and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
Offending is alleged to have occurred on dates between August 2015 and September 2016.
No details surrounding the circumstances of the case were disclosed during the short hearing at Newry Magistrates’ Court, however if the dates are correct this suggests Devine was also a child at the time of alleged offending.
The case was listed for a committal hearing however a defence solicitor requested an adjournment to allow for legal consultations.
District Judge Eamonn King agreed and ordered Devine to return to court on July 31 when the committal is expected to go ahead.
