Jewellery and money have been stolen during two burglaries at south Armagh and Newry.
Detectives in Ardmore are investigating the weekend raids on separate homes and believe they may be linked.
A local councillor, meanwhile, has repeated calls for the local community to be vigilant.
Detective Sergeant Bell said police received a report at approximately 7.35pm on Saturday, that burglars had targeted a property on the Ballynalack Road, Camlough.
“It was reported entry was gained to the property sometime between 2pm and 6.45pm that day, and a sum of money and jewellery were reported stolen,” the officer explained.
“At around the same time, we received a report of a burglary at a property at Dunbrae, Cloghoe, Newry. A sum of money was reported stolen.
“It is believed the burglary occurred sometime between 6pm and the time it was reported to us.
“Our enquiries are continuing, and we believe these two burglaries may be linked at this time.
“I am appealing to anyone who was in these areas around these times and saw any suspicious activity, or anyone who is offered jewellery for sale in suspicious circumstances to get in touch.
“Anyone with information is asked to call detectives in Ardmore on the non emergency number 101, quoting reference number 1212 of 14/07/18.
“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
Sinn Féin councillor Liz Kimmins has urged people to be alert after the weekend incidents.
“ I would urge all homeowners and residents to be extra vigilant,” she said.
“Anyone who notices anything suspicious should contact the PSNI on 101.”
