Two young men have died and a third is in a critical condition after a single vehicle collision in County Down.
A car left the Kilbroney Road in Rostrevor at around five to midnight and struck a wall.
The collision caused a fire at a nearby oil tank which spread to a property.
Two men died and a third was taken to hospital where his condition is described as critical.
A female resident in the house was also taken to hospital to be treated for shock.
Inspector Stephen Humphries said: “We are working to establish the circumstances of the collision and I am appealing for witnesses to come forward.
“I would also like to hear from anyone who was travelling on the Kilbroney Road prior to the time of the collision and who may have seen a silver Volkswagen Bora on the road. The number to call is 101.”
At this stage, police say they cannot confirm any information regarding the people involved, except to say that all three young men and are believed to be in their late teens.
